"Suppose you were opening a new shop (screen printing) and could do everything right from the start what are the most important factors to making your shop environmentally friendly?" The two really do not go hand in hand. If you open a shop you immediately become environmentally unfriendly and there is nothing you can do about it. The only choice you have is "how environmentally unfriendly" your shop is. If you really dig deep into water base inks you will find they not that friendly to the world. Beside the inks themselves you need a forced air dryer with a longer tunnel or slower belt speed so you end up using more energy trying to be worldly friendly. From what I have seen, a lot of self proclaimed greenies have a bigger footprint on the environment than those who are not. Now you take us textile printer. No mater what we use we still turn on those big energy guzzling dryers and let them run all day long . "I ask because I want to have as low an impact as possible but at the same time keeps products affordable." Again the two do not go hand in hand. "Plus being able to market yourself as a green company is definitely a plus these days." That's easy. Just buy organic shirts (like cotton is not organic) and then just tell everyone you are a green business. Just excuse me if I sounded cynical but this hole "Green" lie that is going on is nothing more than a big marketing and political con job. Heck if you really calculate the footprint of someone like that "Going Green with Sara Snow" be-och, you will find her footprint is about the size of 100+ normal people because of all the crud she has to use getting around an filming her show. If Sara really wants to go green, Sara needs to kill the show, stay home and live off food stamps. But Sara is too busy making the green to ever really become green. ____________________ Shop Management Software Reviews Visit the Screen Printers Open Forum List your business for free on the Screen Printers Open website.
