Maybe simply not having a drum full of yuky chemicals would be an alternative.

I don't have use in my shop (although I do have one). I really don't know why you need one. We quit using ours over a year ago, some of the previous employees I had apparently used it, but I really dont know what for.

To remove ink from squeegies we just squirt it with a mild ink degradient and then wipe it down with paper towels. To remove ink from screens we scrape out the ink and put it back in the can it came from, then a couple squirts of ink degradient on each side of the screen and a quick once over with the pressure washer seems to do fine.

What's a solvent tank really needed for?

I also don't understand why printers need rag services. Naturally we used scrap shirts a lot, but one large box of paper towels at Sams or Costco cost about $15 and lasts all month. Now compare that with $35/wk for a rag service. The papertowels are biodegradable, and only consume something like 1/4 of a sq foot of tree.

And since this is the "green" forum, just think about all that gas/oil/polution from those service trucks coming to your location. What a waste.
