I really think this board is important to the overall industry. While I do think that it is very important to mind how we treat the environment, this coming from a long time fisherman and outdoorsman, it is equally as important to treat the economy the same way.

We as screen printers must strike a balance between what is good for our business and what is good for our environment and overall health. We work hard here to make sure that as little hazardous waste is disposed of like uncured ink and solvents. We also really push the advantages of digital garment printing and embroidery.

We've also switched over to the Easiway system and no longer use the solvents from Safety-Kleen, which was mineral spirits and I think benzene. We also use roll on adhesive for our platens instead of spray glue as well. We've found these changes not only help limit our waste, but also helps our bottom line. We do not let ANY plastisol go down the drain, all excess is cured or mixed into other colors. As a matter of fact, if anybody needs a gallon or two of a new color called "wet cement" let me know, I'll be glad to hook you up.

For some markets organic and waterbased are all the rage. Not so much in our market, most of our customers are looking for a reasonable way to outfit their employees or students in branded gear. We offer higher end goods, but mostly sell the middle of the road type of stuff.

I guess the point I am trying to get across is that each business must find a middle ground, one on which they can offer great product, at a competitive price and manage to not end up killing off mankind in the process. Of course that last line was an exaggeration, I just was at a loss for words.
