Why would any shop have used solvents (left over)? Personally, we use our solvents, and then they are no more (they are embedded in the products or evaporate or are on the paper towel that we use them with). I once noticed one of my (offset) competitor had two empty barrels on his loading dock. One was labeled "waste ink" another "waste petroleum naptha". I asked him why he had them, he responded: "because we are required to have them to meet regulations". But the point is they were empty! In my shop we do not have a need for waste chemical removal/recycling because we don't have any waste ink (we use up our ink) and we don't have any waste anything - we use it not waste it! And once it is used, it is gone! Sure, I realize that you need to sell some of these recycling/filtration or whatever they are machines. But it would be a lot more "GREEN" to not even purchase chemicals that you have to waste. And Brian, I don't intend to be hostile towards you. I just got real irritated a few weeks ago when a sales person from a "hazardous waste removal company" tried to use scare tactics to get me to purchase a drum of mineral spirits from them - so that I would have to pay to get it removed. I mean why in the world would I want to start using any more petroleum distilates, when we get along just fine without it to begin with. [Edited on 3/6/08 by imagep] | |
