it's just a shame that our Govmt didn't jackup gas taxes a few years ago. Gas would be no higher today, and at least it would OUR the Govmt getting the money instead of the governments of Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Venesuala. We could have gotten a nice break on income taxes or fixed social insecurity system, or eliminated other taxes or reduced our national debt, or cured cancer, or improved our enviroment, or funded more small business loans, or rebuilt New Orleans, or built border fenses, or invested in bio-fuels or fuel cells or public transportation or nuclear energy, or whatever suites your fancy, with that money. Within a couple years we will be paying five or six or seven bucks a gallon, we are willing to pay it (even if we arn't happy about it), and it is worth it. And all that extra money will go to oil companies and foreign gov'mts because our polititions ain't got spine enough to raise gas taxes so that the American People can keep that money. Sorry to bring up politics, I just had to. [Edited on 4/28/08 by imagep] | |
