Well honestly I started to do web site work myslef due to the fact that I wanted a "web" based business. I contacted many web site developers, hosting companies....etc and was simply shocked at the prices I was being quoted. Most ranging from $3500 on the cheap side to $14,500 on the highest side!! Now that to me was not a solution so I decided to look into creating my own as I was already a computer "geek" somewhat and I figured that it cant be that hard to learn web programming. After spending several months working with a few desktop applications I found that they had "limited potential" for what I needed for my business. When I discovered Joomla it simply clicked and made rapid development of my custom applications that I needed a snap. I only started to offer web hosting as a side business to offset the costs associated with a dedicated server...fairly expensive. Also since I know this business I can offer the type of support for web building that most other companies simply cant understand. Thats not to say that I am better at web development, just better at helping my customers with a site that offers modifications suited to printers.
