Of course under the example given, and when selling high profit margin items that are ready to ship....no customization required the scenario works. However, I was not playing out hypothetical "what if" or using a product thats in a box ready to ship. I was staying on subject in regards to custom printing. Last week I had about1600 hits to my site....my cost for those clicks...$$-ZERO! I only received 16 orders, but I did get 4 requests for quotes on new equipment, I will be sharing NO profits for those with Google. Its simple, Good SEO offers a higher rate of return than Adwords. People search for PRODUCTS & SERVICES, I cant speak for most but I rarely to never click on the paid links because I know they are only there because a company paid to throw it in my face. However a site that ranks high all by itself tells me that it has content I am searching for....thats why it ranks high. Obviously Adwords work for many companies, who sell massive volumes and have huge ad campaigns. I have yet to hear of a small print/embroidery shop who see's any REAL rate of return for Adwords versus the same money spent on direct marketing to their REAL local customer base. In EVERY industry report that I have read over the last decade virtually 75% every screen printer's customer base was located within 100 miles of the printers shop.....so it stands to reason that spending money to advertise to people 2000 miles away from your shop is money wasted. Of course this depends on your business, and what services, products and such you offer. But if your a basic garment decorator or promo-product shop I would think that the same money spent on building a website that offers a method for your customers to do more business with you, and helping to manage those customers with web based services would be better than trying to get a few jobs from pay per click marketing.
