Quite an old post. My father had a print shop and our horizontal camera was a Brown Escort, so I believe that is what you have. I believe it has a vacuum line attached to one or both of the drop down doors on either end, and I seem to remember that it is open underneath the enclosure. These were made for shooting negative film for offset printing plates from line art or mechanical art layouts and rubylith or amberlith overlays. They're pretty much obsolete now, with film and chemistry going the way of the dodo.
