Here's my best description, but maybe Mark w/Vastex can step in with a better description. They're x-y-z style micros, but instead of using a turnbuckle-style threaded mechanism, the micro adjusting screws thread through the print head framework and bear against hardened metal plates riveted on the screen bracket framework. The bracket is spring-loaded against the print head, which provides constant loading of the threads of the adjustment screws. This keeps all movement linear, so when you make an adjustment to one screw, there's no slack in the threads of the other screws to throw off your earlier adjustments, which is what occurs in some of the other presses with Hopkins-style micros. I know they've changed them recently to add a spring load to the pitch adjustment. If you can, look at one in person, mess with the micros, and lift the print arm up an look underneath. You'll see how they work, and why they work so well. I believe antec's legend presses use spring-loaded micros as well, but they hide the works under some sheet metal, and told me that the design was proprietary (must've been the sheet metal covering that was proprietary).
Anyhoo, when I saw how the Vastex press worked, I made up my mind that I was gonna buy one, and I did. Love it!
