CorelDRAW X3 is a major upgrade and many things were changed internally that are not compatible with 12. In fact it was the biggest change since CorelDRAW v7. Smart Designer X3 works with CorelDRAW X3 and has a limited feature set that works with CorelDRAW 12. Development of Smart Designer X3 took almost a year and required a complete rewrite of most of the code, with an emphasis on supporting 64 Bit processors and OS's, current and future. It is impossible to design an add-on for versions of Corel that are not yet released, because we have no way of knowing what is going to be changed until the version is completed. Although we do get all Beta versions there were some big changes made between Beta 4 and Beta 5. SD worked great in Beta 4 and when Beta 5 came out, it wouldn't work at all, requiring some big rewrites.
