Well, perhaps it works well for folks who only use it with Photoshop, but my results with it outputting from Corel 11, 12 and X3 to an Epson 1520 have been just short of miserable at times. Even with a brand-new black print head, I still get banding. Tech support's reply when I raised the issue wasn't very encouraging. (My recollection was that they said that FastRip was designed to work best with Photoshop.) If I swap the job into Photoshop and print it from there, the problems often just magically go away...but I'm much more familiar with Corel, and I do virtually all of my design work with that tool. I doubt that I'm alone in that preference.

I'll be trying Ghostscript next, as I loathe the idea of having to spend $500 for a RIP software package that will only work with one printer model; that's the really big drawback of AccuRip in my opinion. FastRip isn't limited that way, though different versions have different lists of printers that they support. I suspect that if US Screen really thought that the future of process screen printing still was going to be dominated by film and stencils, they would be updating the FastRip package and fixing known issues in it...but everything I've seen at the recent shows tells me that they've thrown all their efforts behind the T-jet, and neither support nor development for FastRip appears to be getting much attention.

Out here on the front lines, the not-snappy-enough colors of the T-jet's results aren't leading me to think that I need to clear a space for a $30K one-shirt-at-a-time inksquirter, so I'd be far happier if the old tools got the support their users needed while we were still using them.

That's just my two cents' worth. Your mileage may vary.
