I'm not exactly sure where to go from here. We bought a Centurian printer and finally had the electrician in to hook it up. This was a bargain special. It sat for several years in a non-temperature controlled environment. A lot of things started to rust. (A roof leak allowed some water to drip on it in places) It has been assembled, and we installed the heads that look most likely to work - enough to do maybe 4 colors. We powered it on, wondering if it would pop and smoke or do nothing at all. To my surprise, it came up. I've been buying and installing some missing fuses. (Not blown, but missing) and those bays are coming to life. A few of the air solenoids that raise/lower the heads leak. I guess it's a pressure relieve hole on the side. I think they are stuck and don't seal. Wondering if I can fix those up if I get inside them. I'm not entirely sure how to make this press work. I don't know how to make the carousel turn, for example. I did get a couple of the heads to flood and pull, but they don't do it reliably. Sometimes they will, sometimes they won't. The control box is an older console. No computer chip that I can tell, just electronics. I think it was manufactured around 1990. My plan is to begin with 1 head and get it working, then go from there. When it powers on, a "Failure" LED is lit but I don't know what faults can light this LED. I did find the yellow safety cords and got those connected up. (No kidding, this thing is in real neglected shape) A registration fork beneath the carousel finally let loose and popped up after a few hours of playing around. (Air powered) I don't know how the press senses the position of the carousel. Most of the heads will raise and lower with the switch on the related console but that comprises most of the action I'm getting out of this press. I want to figure out how this press thinks and how it works so that I can understand how it doesn't work. I'm reasonably familiar with our M&R Guantlet and related flash units and I am usually the one to breathe life back into those machines, but that is another beast from another era. Any suggestions? | ||
