3 seconds and excessive heat don't go together. Do you have temperature control on the flash, or does it run full blast? Typically we find the flash should be about half of potential, and not full blast. Also, do you check the ink to see if you can dent the ink with your fingernail as you should, if not excessively flashed? As for the comments about pressure being the cause, I doubt that. However, do the squeegee blades bend? They should not. If they do, the ink is being crushed, and that is how you would get dot gain. Another way to check the pressure to the platen is to put your fingers under the platen lightly just before the print stroke starts. Do you feel the platen deflect during the print stroke? You should not...ever. There are lots of ways to get ink through a screen without using excessive pressure. However, even if excessive pressure is used, I doubt that is the cause. Aluminum is a flexible metal that would spring back. The only cause of warping is heat. If the platens are not protected with 1/8" neoprene, that would insulate the metal and help to protect from heat. The issue is how little heat can you operate with to keep the ink from coming up on the next screen. Then the only option would be fans on the platens between flash units, but that should not be necessary. roger@rjennings.com
