For as many films as you can print with one $60 cartridge, I always found genuine Epson Black was the safest choice for the 3000. I mean, by the time you go through all this, are you really saving anything? Head clean, head clean, head clean. That's about all you really can do, short of taking it apart. Been there - done that.
