When you pull out all four cartridges THEN turn it off it purges the lines. When you turn it back on and reinstall the carts the initial ink charge process begins. It takes about 8 minutes for this process to complete. If you turn it off or interrupt the process it will start the process all over again. It does consume between 1/8 and 1/4 of a cartridge. This process is like a heavy duty super duty extra long big daddy cleaning cycle. I'll bet your banding goes away, and if it doesn't it's time for service. Sometimes this process can trigger the waste pads full error. This is recognized by all the ink out LED's being on steady while all the rest of the LED's will be blinking. To reset hold down the PAUSE + LF/FF + MICRO ADJUST (arrow down) buttons for a few seconds while you turn on the printer. ~sigmo | ||
