We bought a Renaissance Cantare as our first commercial machine. Renaissance is a newer machine in the market, and is made in China. The machine frame is made from heavy weight steel, and appears durable. The controls were simple to use, and the machine ran from a connected PC.

We did have some mechanical problems with the machine. Some probably caused by our inexperience with commercial machine operations, some probably not.

Their technicians were fantastic, but stretched too thin to always be there for you when needed.

Overall, we learned a great deal from our Renaissance, both with machine embroidering and machine maintenance.

For the money, we would go with a single head from SWF.

We do highly recommend the digitizing software offered by Renaissance, and have been happily using it for years.

One thing to keep in mind. Whatever machine you decide on, check their resale value in the market. With this being your first machine, you will eventually want to sell the machine, either to trade up to your next machine, or to liquidate your assets and move on to something else.

Hope this helps.
