Ok... So I went and purchased a Melco SuperStar 2 embroidery machine. I found out quickly that it was old... and required 720 Kb disks. So I did what was suggested in previous posts and got an old 486 with windows 3.1 off eBay. Guess what..The stupid machine would not format disks. Sooo I got another 486 and was able to format a 720 disk. Stuck it in the disk drive and ... BAD SECTOR. The machine did not like it. Now I am hearing that it requires a special controller card (I refered to this information in previous posts even..) above and beyond the normal, old 486 style controller card. I am going to call Melco-Service today and get one on order BUT is this where I get to start doing what I bought the machine for or is there more I will run into? The guy I bought the machine from did not say anything but that I could format the disks in the Superstar and then add the art in my computer. So far I have NOT figured out how to format disks in the machine and it will not take the disks from the 486. HEEEELLLLPPPPPPP p.s. I did contact the guys at www.masis.com and they said they have a box that hooks up to the machine and can take the designs directly from the computer. BUT I no have 350.00 after buying the machine. I barely have the 75 bucks for the controller card since I have been unable to sell any shirts with this thing since everyone wants logos and not just text (it does text great..). I am finding out quickly that embroidery is like a time share, the initial fee to get in is not the expensive part.
