Good Question. . .Are you sure the wire mesh filters aren't meant to be replaced instead of cleaned?
If they are meant to be cleaned, you could try a product like Franmar's d-haze that will help to dissolve the dried emulsion. Get the liquid, put it in a container that the mesh would be able to be completely submerged and soak the screen. Save the liquid in the container (metal not plastic) for future uses.
