High Pressure Sodium lamps will not work because they emit light in the 590 nano meter range, not 340 to 400 nm range needed to expose screen making stencils.

Most HPS lamps have narrow band of light emmitted, but I was reminded that there are some that do have output in the lower range.

The range is everything - and lamps companies may differ.
