Alas, you may be unhappy because you have a bad combination of products. QX-1 is a high resolution Dual-Cure industrial emulsion that is pre-sensitized at the factory. An image doesn't appear, because it is not sensitized with diazo which changes color when exposed to Ultra Violet light. Elementary exposure judgement is very simple. If the stencil washed out, it didn't get enough exposure. If it doesn't wash out, it was exposed to light or heat and now resists water. If it doesn't wash out where you positive is supposed to stop UV light, the positive is not opaque enough. If the emulsion was exposed to UV light in the bucket, it would look like cottage cheese and you wouldn't coat it. The suggested starting exposures listed on the Technical Data Sheet for QX-1 do not even show a 25 watt lamp. http://www.ulano.com/TechData/QX-1.tds.pdf If you want faster exposure, you will have to invest in faster emulsion like Ulano QTX, or a more powerful lamp than your 25 watt fluorescent bulb. You would do better with a Home Depot 500 watt portable work light with a "J" bulb in it for $14. QTX is also a pre-sensitized emulsion that is twice as fast as QX-1. ____________________ Richard Greaves, ASPT Ulano Corp. New York Technical Services 718-943-1338 direct | |
