Your potential landlord has a common point:

Septic Tanks are not designed to handle inorganic waste.

Your shop would generate much more waste water than a common office making coffee and flushing the toilet during the day. Many of the chemicals we use like haze removers, wetting agents, degreasers plus common household cleaners like detergents, toilet cleaners, bleach, and disinfectants kill the natural bacteria in the septic tank. You could offer to add extra doses of enzyme additives to the waste water to promote bacteria growth.

Waste water flows from your shop into the septic tank. The organic solids float to the top and the inorganic solids should sink to the bottom of the tank. Natural occurring bacteria in the septic tank convert the organic solids to liquid, and that clear liquid in between the "solids" and "sludge" layers flows into the leaching field.

You might offer to contribute to having the tank pumped more often, but there is the chance that trace amounts of ink and emulsion would eventually clog and destroy the leaching field.

You could discuss how your waste water might increase the costs of servicing and maintaining the system, but your landlord would probably blame you for any and all solid buildup.

Find out how much it would cost to replace leaching field would also be a negociating point you could make.

Increasing the regular pumping of the tank should be the best negotiating point.
