  Hi Everyone,
this is my first post in this forum, but may not be my last! I am a screenprinter in my 5th year of business. My girlfriend and I are debating whether or not to delve into the world of embroidery. We want to expand our business, and currently noone in our immediate embroiders. So I have a few questions for anyone out there who started off screening, and brought embroidery in-house to expand their operations.
The plan would be for my GF to run the embroidery side of things. Myself and my printer would also learn, but it would primarily be run by by her. My main question right now concerns the learning curve. I started my shop from scratch with no prior knowledge of screenprinting, and have brought the business to a level that I am very happy with. We are both smart and highly motivated, so I am confident that with a lot of trial and error (just like with the screening) we can learn to be great embroiderers. So how did you screeners find learning the process compared to screening? I realize this will vary from person to person, but I just want to know just how difficult the craft is to learn. Right now we are thinking we would outsource the digitizing till we adequately learned the actually embroidery process. Only then would we consider bringing the digitizing in house.
Also, what pros and cons has bringing embroidery in house brought to your screening business? Success? Frustration? Regret? Any stories would be great to satisfy our curiosities right now! We are excited about the possibilities and are eager to learn more, so any info you experts can provide would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
