Reducers are similar to Thinners. They reduce the viscosity of Plastisol Inks; however, most Reducers do not have binders like Curable Thinners. Reducers are normally used at levels up to 2% to lower the viscosity of an ink to make it print easier by making the ink less tacky. Curable Thinners do the same but since they have binders in them, the usage level could be much higher depending on which product used. Extenders are bases or Soft Hand additives. They are added to the inks to extend the volume. The Soft Hand Additives can be added to inks to improve build-up and promote better flow through the screen. Bases can be added to High Opacity inks to extend volume when printing on light color fabrics. Extending the ink lower the overall cost of the print, but remember it has less opacity and can not be used over darks once it has been extended. | ||
