I'm a small shop and I require all orders be received in writing. By hand, by computer, e-mail, doesn't matter. It must be in writing from the customer.

I then type this information on to my order sheet. It is in 18pt type. I then photo copy the original customer's order on to the back of my order sheet. This becomes part of the paper package that will be approved, signed and move with the order at all steps of the process.

Like everyone else. I count shirts when they come in. I recount when stacking on the preprint table. Then counted when the are pulled from the dry and stacked by size. Then they are folded and stacked in groups of 10 and bagged by size. And finally when the customer comes in, we count them together. If the customer is in a hurry, NOT my fault. We will count them and they will sign the form saying they counted them and it matches their original signed order.

Counting the order is no different than receiving the final and full payment on delivery. Without it I keep the shirts.

And as told by others above, the problem customers are usually friends, neighbors and people you know wanting more than what they ordered. Like you owe them some sort of special deal.
---------------
The customer that comes in and says they were shorted a shirt or two. Well we will be going over all the paper work for sure.

The customer that comes in and says I have a person who order a shirt and it doesn't fit. Would like to get another size. I'll work with this customer to help them keep their people happy as well.
