Congratulation on your purchase! I have always preferred the Hopkins over all other manual presses. The main thing to inspect is the hinge bolts for the print heads. If you look at the print head there are 2 bolts approx. 5" long. one is the hinge bolt and the other is the stop bolt. First make sure the hinge bolt is protruding from the assembly and NO THREADS are inside the pivot point bushing. I have seen where bolts with shorter shoulders have been used which causes the pivot point to hinge on the bolts threads and not a solid shoulder.
You can also check to see if your bushings are worn by releasing the spring tension from the head and wiggling it from side to side(it should not show much movement at all) If it does you can get replacement bushings and have them pressed out/in
you can also lubricate these bushings and bolts with a good automotive bearing grease after you have done this inspection. The only other thing of note is the 4 springs on each head need to all be there. This press has a known tendency to break these springs(it will scare the hell out of you when one flies) All 4 need to be in place otherwise the head will be pulled to one side and make for miss registration problems.
Enjoy!
