I hope I can explain this well, it might take a minute so please bare with me.... So I printed a job recently, white ink on black shirts. I decided on using an xtra low bleed heavy ass ink and a 110 mesh. My reason being that I did not want to print/ flash/ print. I wanted to get a nice bright white with one hit. So I tried to press QCM's Glacier White Max with my Freedom and it simply would not do it.....? Now this confuses me as I am coming from years of manual printing before getting automated. I have in the past tried manually printing really thick white inks resulting in way too much effort required, or no success at all. As a result I was always told that you can not print those type of inks manually, they are for "automatic presses"... So now that I have recently become automated I proceeded to try to use an xtra low bleed ink and could not get the press to do it. It would not clear the mesh, not even with 2 hits. The press seemed to loose pressure and just roll right over the ink without even penetrating the stencil. I tried different squeegee angles with improving results... Even better with the 90 duro side of the squeegee and almost no angle, but still not clearing the mesh. I even tried 150 lbs of pressure (which just didn't seem right), still no go. Now I print manually with this particular ink all the time. It is my goto ink with an 83 mesh when I'm trying to print a dark shirt without flashing. I can manually press this particular ink with fair amount of ease through as high as a 195 mesh..... So what gives? A machine cant handle it? Since I just needed to get the job done I gave up on it and hopped over to a creamier white. It worked fine, however not exactly the results I was going for. The customer even commented on how bright the white was but I know it could have been better. Can someone please shed some light on what I might have been doing wrong? Will this press simply not do this? Am I expecting too much of this machine? Thanks for any support!! Sorry for the long post. | |
