Sometimes they get stuck. Inside the quick connect is a little metal ring that has teeth on it for lack of a better description. That ring is like a flat washer, and sometimes it inverts and doesn't release the air line. This happend to me and the only thing I could do was cut the line close to the quick connect, and slit the airline left in the quick connect fitting and take it out in pieces.
