  Hi Toni,

I use Union Maxopaque inks and print them thru lower mesh counts than most. I get a brilliant print that is bullit proof. No one complains about hand. I have to watch cure and drapibility.

One very popular look is achieved by printing one color designs with soft inks and high mesh counts. This combination make a washed out or used look and can be done with distressed art. The fibers of the garment will pop thru, especially with excessive squeegee pressure, adding to this look.

Ultra Soft is probably fine as is your press. By hand printing, you usually can't control squeegee pressure as well as an auto. Back off this pressure and see if this helps. Another thing about hand printing is an operator may print many times and leave a thicker ink film.

I know you want the best of both worlds and all I gave you was extremes. Try to leave the ink film on the surface of the shirt by backing off the squeegee pressure.

Union Ultra Soft is what it says-soft. I use the terminology SOFT to describe the printability of an ink rather than the hand of the shirt. I'm not that familar with Ultra Soft. Union also makes Mixopaque and this may help.

Good Luck,

Wes
