Hi Toni, I will vouch for what Light Speed and Calibrated have said. What you are seeing is generally referred to as fibrillation. It comes from laying down a thin layer of ink on a ring-spun fabric. The thin layer cannot hold down the fabric fibers and they pop thru the ink layer at the first washing. You can verify that the ink is not faded by simply getting the print wet and the fibers mat down and the colors brighten back up. I have worked hard on this issue for several years and there are a number of partial cures but no real easy answer. Most of the time I would rather explain the tradeoff. Soft versus heavy. You can get rid of the fibers by laying down a thicker layer of ink or you can accept them and enjoy the softer print. Just about every solution that people have come up with in the last few years involves adding another screen to the print and putting down some type of clear either under or over the print. Not exactly printer friendly and any more ink, even a clear is going to increase the hand. Hope this helps. Mike | ||
