An ignition error can be caused from one of several reasons. I will present a "check list" of the common reasons why you may be getting this error. I am willing to bet its one of them below. Some may seem like common sense, but need to checked regardless. 1) Take the lower panel off the dryer to expose the gas meter...is there gas pressure? 2) There are 2 filters for this dryer, one is located on the same side as the control panel and slides out from just under it. It has a handle and the filter is about as wide as the dryer. If you fail to keep it clean the air can not recirculate inside the combustion chamber and your dryer will not fire. The other filter, commonly overlooked is on the other side, its a metal mesh filter and filters incoming air going to the burner, of course if this is clogged you can simply slide it off and use a power sprayer to give it a good cleaning. Hint: A healthy spray of silicone spray on it makes for easier cleaning in the future. 3) Make sure than when you fire the dryer to allow the blower motors to come to full speed before hitting the burner fire button. There is a safety system the dryer has to ensure that the air is moving inside the dryer at a proper volume. Give it about 5-10 seconds after starting the blowers before hitting the burner fire button. Also make sure that the blowers are actually turning, on the other side of the dryer where the exhaust exits the dryer there are 2 grease fittings....when was the last time you used them? Should be often. And if you cant hear the blower spinning then there may be an issue there. The blowers are belt driven and if you did not keep up on greasing the motors it can wear the belts down. 4) What temp is the dryer set for? The safety system will prevent the dryer from running if the temp reaches or is set to 500° or more. Also what does the digital temp read when the dryer is simply turned on...it should read room temperature, if not this may be a sign of a bad thermocouple or read error. 5) How old is the dryer? And have you ever replaced the spark plug or flame rod? Like anything that burns gas after some time it will require some small parts to keep running well. The spark plug can after time build up some corrosion that will prevent it from sparking properly. This is especially true for shops that fail to keep the filters cleaned on a daily basis...as they should. The other part, a flame rod is a device to see if the dryer has actually fired up and is burning gas. While this item usually lasts for a very long time it can over time droop from heat out of the path of the flame and not allow the dryer to fire up. The simple task of gently bending it back straight can fix this issue, although I would recommend replacing as its a fairly cheap part. To get to these parts you simply remove the panels under the control box to expose the combustion chamber, they are both right up close and easy to access. look for excessive black soot inside, a sure sign of bad combustion...usually from not cleaning the filters often enough or low gas pressure. 5) To see if the flame is even starting, but then flaming out..simply have someone start the dryer up while you stand on the other side of the control panel and look through the sight glass. Its a small 2" square glass that is in line with the burner. When the dryer fires up it will take 20-seconds to "purge" and then the flame should fire. If you see it fire but go out it may be a sign of the flame rod I spoke about above not in the path of the flame. If you don't see anything before the error buzzer goes off then it may be the spark plug or some other safety checking device...or low gas pressure. 6) While this should be first on the list, have you checked all the fuses in the dryer, There are not many, but with the dryers power cut off at the breaker remove each fuse and using a multimeter set your meter to the ohm setting..the one with the "Ω" horseshoe looking sign and place the fuse on a NON-CONDUCTIVE surface and without holding it in your hand place a lead on each side of the fuse. If you get a reading its a good fuse, no reading at all means its a bad fuse. If your multimeter has an "audible" setting I prefer to use that setting. 7) The dryer uses a 3-phase power supply, make sure all three circuit breakers are on at your circuit breaker box. If only 2 of the 3 are on the dryer will allow the belt, and control box to come on...but will not fire or allow the blower motors to come on and the dryer will not fire. If after all this you still cant get the dryer to fire up, then contact me. I left my contact information on your answering machine. ____________________ www.calibratedsps.com - Screen Printing Equipment - Supplies - Online Store ![]() Providing 7-Days A Week Toll Free Customer Support For Every Product Sold ![]() Printers Forums Equipment Classifieds Tutorials Employment Listings
