From what Tony has shown you I can't imagine changing the side of the control box would be that tough. It looks to be nothing but an extention of all the wires. Not that it would look pretty but I don't think it would be that tough if you took your time. Seriously, how hard can it be to splice some wires and extend them? I've done this on my desktop computer because my graphics card was running hot so I just rewired it using a custom built PCI extention I made and now it sits outside my case with plenty of air flow. Nobody here would recommend it but you know your abilities better than us.
