As a matter of fact...the tighter the screen the lower a coin bounces. The screen must deflect to "slingshot" the coin upward. The less it deflects because of tension...the lower the height of the coins rebound. Did the experiemnt years ago for giggles at 100ncm on a roller frame. The quarter barely moved once it hit the mesh. The obvious exception to this rule....which we did also...is to drop the same quarter on a totally non-elastic surface. We used teh granite tooling flat in the machine shop. The quarter bounce very high (much higher than a loose piece of mesh)....because the granite was so stiff that the elasticity in the metal of the quarter was what caused the bounce. Ray | ||
