The distress pattern is actually a modification of one of the Mister Retro Machine Wash filters.

I opened the .pdf of the filter (they used to include the .pdf files on the cds, but I don't think they do that anymore), and modified quite a bit...
changed it to grayscale
adjusted the tone
tweaked the contrast/brightness/intensity

Then I switched it to b&w mode lineart, and adjusted the slider until I like what I saw..

Saved it as a .tif, and now it's a lovely clear overlay that I can use very easily in CorelDraw.

I adjusted all of the MisterRetro filters this way, but saved my favorites over into a separate folder to make it easier to locate them.
This was the one called
Splatter_Paint
and it's definitely my favorite of the whole bunch.

A close second would be my modification of the filter called
brittle
