Hello, Here are some thoughts Open ink well or closed cup Closed cup does not need thinner added as often. If you get a closed cup machine make sure the cup does not leak and runs a clean plate with little pressure. Remember closed cup ceramic ring replacement price $200.00+ stainless steel easy-clean Doctor Blade $5.00 You will want to consider image size. With a closed cup your image is limited to fitting in the round cup area Although you if you run the machine constantly you can extend that image size back. With an open ink well the image size can be a litter larger for the plate size. If you get a multiple color machine make sure the registration is easy. It should have micro registration for left right, front back and skew for each color and the work table. The machine should give you control for pad up down, front back speed. Pad down height. It is nice if the machine has a pad down button this makes adjusting the pad down easier. Timing of pad over plate on plate pad over part and on the part. Give you the option of double hitting the image. For some reason the oriental machines do a double pick up ( the machine picks up ink moves forward to ink the image then goes back and picks up more ink then brings the pad down on the item. I find that this method of double hitting picks up too much ink and causes a blotched image. Hope this helps Frank | ||
