Hey there Tom,

I built my own exposure unit as well, several years back. No vacuum for it though.

Mine is a 1000 Watt Metal Halide setup... My burns are 40 seconds on the dot for a full burn - whether I'm burning spots or half-tones.

If yours is taking longer (i.e. several minutes), it's possible that the glass you have is UV resistant. (I think it's tempered glass that has the UV resistant layer in it).

My original exposure unit was 4 fluorescent lamps... and took 6 minutes to burn a white screen, and 12 minutes for a yellow mesh screen. Dropping down to 40 seconds per burn was a REAL time/money saver!
