Hello all; this is my first post. As the subject line suggests, I'm gathering information on screenprinting waterslide decals for use on small scale models. Here's what I know so far: I need solvent inks and compatible emulsion for printing on the special gummed paper. To get thin prints and sharp details, I need very fine mesh-- but how high? Most of the solvent ink I'm looking at says 305 mesh, but I think I need higher. I'm not concerned about artwork issues or color separations because I use those techniques with my current digital printing process. I AM concerned about burning the screens the right way to get high quality. Lastly (and this is big), I have to get dead-on registration between colors. My prints will be up to 6 colors, possibly more, on an area about 8.5"x11". I'm almost sure I need to be looking at the equipment that fine-arts folks use for their serigraphs, because the t-shirt presses just don't look appropriate for this kind of work. Production runs will be about 50 to 100 prints at a time. Oh, and I really have to do all this on the cheap side. Any thoughts are appreciated!
