I have. Or more accurately I have watched several screen makers use it that I was training. On one hand...it is more efficent than a wire wheel. Ever used a wire wheel for removing glue? Problem is this. If you want to REMOVE the glue and not just polish and burn it...you need what is called a "knot wheel". These are expensive wheels with big heavy gauge twisted cords of wire..about as big around as your pinky. The course stiff wires with gaps between the knot cords....there are only about 20 cords on each wheel, make much more brutal and high energy "scrapes" on the surface as they rotate. Its also heavy on vibration. Much faster at removing glue than a plain wire wheel....which should not be used. The MBX..because of the gaps and groupings of the steel wheel parts works like a "knot wheel" but has more ease and less vibration than a knot wheel. comfort alone it may beworth it to you. Either way...I only use a knot wheel on a bench grinder for safety. One knick to your finger and its ugly. With all rotating brush tools...you need slow speed and high force (press hard). Or else very high speed wheels will heat the glue (especially cyanoacrylates)...causing noxious smoke. All off these devices..including the MBX leave the surface too smooth for really good adhesion. If you roughen it up with a file later it works well. For the cost of the wheel Cheaper than knot wheel which runs $60)...its still not cheap. Wire wheels of all types wear down fast. I still think belt sander or orbital is almost as good. Ray | ||
