I have always shied away from this method because of the inherent difficulty and/or messiness.

To achieve the necessary overlap, it will require two prints, each coming darn close to (or bleeding off of) the edge of each side.

A raised printing area to avoid interference by the buttons will be one necessary step.

I take for granted that you will use jerseys with the staggered button placements for this.
