Also in addition to the flash issues you said that these were 50/50 shirts. Are you using any catalyst in the white? I know they are not nylon but it helps just to cure the plastisol a bit without heat. Make sure that your flash units are hot enough to cure the plastisol (over 320 degrees). Then if you have the space set up a fan between the flash unit and your yellow. This will cool the ink down before you start to put your next color on. Sometimes the underbase is so hot that the next screen will make the underbase actually stick to the back of the yellow screen instead of actually laying the ink on top. From the way you described the underbase "almost sinking into the shirt" it makes me thing that this may be part of the issue. That and the fact that since these are 50/50 you are going to have lots of excess ink on your pallets because more ink will be going straight through the shirts. Keep those pallets as clean and tacked as you can. Also did you trap your underbase with your screen mesh? Meaning if your other screens are say 180 mesh did you burn the underbase on a higher mesh? This will also help control what you lay down. Since 50/50 shirts are so thin if you want to keep the hand down on them higher mesh screens and sharp squeegees work best. Use a bit more angle than a normal underbase also. ____________________ Heather Ciccone Newco International. Inc. | |
