If you use automatic updates, you already have everything, well, up until a date awhile back. Service Packs are cumulative patches, that's all. What they are likely testing, is whether all patches apply in one fell stroke, without conflicts. I hope they finish it. When setting up a new system, it's nice to install the OS, then just apply one patch as opposed to dl-ing a zillion with restarts ad-nauseum. Service pack 2 worked decent enough, once released. Anyhow, here's a link, to a link, of the beta ( as in, not done ) with some words of wisdom on the whole thing. http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/windows-xp-service-pack-3.html Good site to look at for a variety of things before you go digging around the net. ____________________ | |
