Seeing that you need to get halftones out quickly, if you have P'shop, you can do it this roundabout way:

Save the picture and then go into the channels palette. Delete all but yellow. This will give you the yellow seps. Go to Image>mode>greyscale>discard all colours, and then go Image>mode>bitmap and then select halftone from the options, not 50% threshold which is the default one. Press enter. Then select a high output value- say 600 ppi, and select the shape (ellipse or round), select the angle for the yellow screen, and the frequency (lpi).
That'll make a sep for yellow as a BMP file. save it, or else go image>mode>greyscale to convert to grey for further editing if needed. Save that as yellow sep. It will then print with halftones per instructions on any printer without Post Script.

Reopen the original colour file, go to channels, select say black, (or cyan or magenta) delete the rest, and follow the above steps, changing the angle for each colour & saving the converted version. Print out as required.

This does not allow you to subtract darkness to allow for dot gain- you'd need to modify the original picture first, before starting to do the seps vial the BMP conversion.

Or you can tackle Ghostscript, and output the channels that way. It's a good program- but you need to concentrate on overcoming the learning hurdle first- it's not good for a hurried emergency fix if you've not tried it before!

Hope that helps!

P.S. don't tell anyone this secret, please!
